Barcelona ran out deserved 2-0 winner in the Champions League final today, with a more comfortable win that most people expected.

Apart from the odd 5 or 10 minute spell here and there, Barca bossed proceedings and could have had a couple more goals before the end.

I've been very critical of the competition in recent years but today's game was miles away from last year's bore draw.

Barcelona have a skillful and attacking side and it's been a joy to watch them secure their treble over the course of the season.

The goal that clinched the Cup today was a well worked effort but the marking of Messi was shocking and uncharacteristically unlike Man U. Did they just run out of steam at the wrong time?

The only thing which would have made today's result even better would have been if Scholes or Ronaldo had seen red. The tackle which earned Scholes a booking would have seen him sent off with many referees.

The trophy presentation was a fitting end to the game. Not quite the big march up stairs from years ago, but certainly better than just standing on the pitch getting it.

Barca's guard of honour when Man U picked up their medals was also a classy touch from very classy and deserved Champions League winners.
